TANDY BEAL AND COMPANY
Modern Dance

This seven-member California company creates engrossing, theatrical, and visually seductive performances, blending theater, dance, and music to produce unforgettable spectacles. Beal was recently awarded a prestigious three-year National Endowment for the Arts grant to choreograph. She's created more than 100 dance and theater works, won many awards for artistic excellence, and served on review panels for various arts agencies. She worked with Frank Zappa and 65 life-sized puppets; she choreographed the animated figures in Tim Burton's film, The Nightmare Before Christmas; she designed Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra; she's worked on MTV; she's choreographed ballet and opera; she's taught dance to clowns and acrobats for the Pickle Family Circus; she teaches dance at U.C. Santa Cruz; and, for twenty years has been founder/administrator/artistic director of her own dance company.
